The Basics

Matt Carmichael is a demographics expert, author, speaker and data-driven journalist who analyzes and reports on the changing population of the U.S. and its impact on everything from marketing, to product development to urban planning and transit. He edits GenPop, a magazine produced by Ipsos where he is the Director of Editorial Strategy for North America. Previously he was editor of Livability.com. He also served as Senior director of research and data at Crain’s Chicago Business and Director of data strategy at Advertising Age. He has been awarded top honors for content, design and innovative uses of technology. His work has appeared in more than 100 media outlets globally.
